Meet the S3 Team
Garry Skinner
Co-Founder / Partner
Garry Skinner is Co-founder and Partner of Discover S3. His 25 years of experience in healthcare encompasses a full spectrum of experience including hospital supply chain operations, medical device sales, and executive level management strategy and implementation.
Mr. Skinners work is currently focused in the areas of vendor management, strategic sourcing, expense management and integrated supply chain operations. His mission supporting a patient centered approach with quality and value supports the overall efficacy of a successful healthcare supply chain.
Mr. Skinner is also the Co-Host of the Supply Chain Podcast Power Supply.
Prior to launching of Discover S3, Mr. Skinner held his own consulting firm GSC, Inc., responsible for services/supplies direct to hospital systems, ambulatory surgery centers and physician clinics. More detailed responsibilities were reduction of both supply and purchased services, successful transition through mergers and acquisitions, and optimization of supply chain operations.
Mr. Skinner holds a Master Degree of Science from the University of Idaho and Bachelor of Science from Lewis Clark State College.
Nate Barker
Co-Founder / Partner
Nate Barker is Co-founder and Partner of Discover S3. His over 20+ year career has been spent in healthcare supply chain. He has held many different roles in healthcare supply chain organizations throughout his career which give him an extensive knowledge of end-to-end supply chain processes.
Prior to founding Discover S3, Mr. Barker served in multiple managerial roles and functions centered on change management in the procure-to-pay operations of the largest not-for-profit healthcare organization in the United States. Much of his work focused on gaining operational efficiencies; designing process that resulted in successful system transitions during mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures; and conflict resolution and service recovery. In addition, Mr. Barker has held previous roles in sourcing and contracting where he led major initiatives in the PPI space as well as led implementations of new products and services across multiple service lines. With a wide range of experience in purchasing, sourcing and contracting, value analysis, logistics, and payables, Mr. Barker is able to provide a holistic view of supply chain.
Mr. Barker holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business.
Outside of his work, Nate enjoys his time as a husband and father of three children. He can typically be found on the golf course in the summer or in a basketball gym in the winter.
